West Michigan highway shooting launches homicide investigation


Muskegon Township Police launched a homicide investigation after a shooting on U.S. Highway 31 in the Muskegon River flats Wednesday.

According to police, a 22-year-old driver who was shot, drove off roadway, and later died at a hospital.

Witnesses told police they heard gun shots as a gray or silver Jeep drove alongside the victim’s vehicle on northbound U.S.-31 around noon Wednesday.

When officers arrived, the victim’s vehicle was found down in a swamp and the driver had one gunshot wound, police said.
