One lane of U.S. Highway 131 in Kalamazoo was shut down Thursday.

A Michigan State Police trooper said a semitruck rollover was the cause of the shutdown.

Many of the 34 dairy cows inside the truck hadn't survived, according to the Oshtemo Township Fire Department.

No injuries were reported in the crash, officials said.

A northbound lane of the highway near the 40 mile marker was expected to be closed through noon, the MSP trooper said.

He advised motorists to seek an alternate route around the area.
