Calhoun County deputies began their search for a man who they said broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment armed with a pistol Tuesday.

Lieutenant Kevin Callahan said the 32-year-old white man broke into a home in the 700 block of Avenue A around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020.

The man, who has ties to the Allegan, Barry, and Calhoun areas, pointed a pistol at two women in the home as they exchanged words, Callahan said. He then left the home, and deputies began to canvas the area.

Two area schools were briefly locked down while officers searched the area.

Callahan said officers believe the man left in a stolen vehicle, described as an early 2000s white Ford F150 with a white cap in the back and black rims.

A warrant request will be submitted to the Calhoun County Prosecutor's Office for charges, Callahan said.

He said there is no danger to the community as the man was targeting one of the women involved.

If you have information on the suspect, Callaham said to contact the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office at 269-781-0880 and ask for detectives or call Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
