The U.S. Interstate 94 BL bridge over Portage Creek was scheduled to close Monday, Aug. 2, 2021 for repairs.
Michigan Department of Transportation officials said in a written statement that detours would be in place during certain lane closures.
From Monday, Aug. 2 until Monday, Aug. 23, motorists traveling east would be detoured on Pitcher Street Crosstown Parkway, and King Highway before returning to I-94. Westbound lanes would remain open on the bridge.

From Monday, Aug. 23 through Friday, Sept. 17, eastbound lanes would reopen on the bridge and westbound lanes would close. Motorists traveling west would be detoured on Gull Road, Ransom Street, and Pitcher Street.
The bridge repairs represented a $412,000 investment. MDOT officials said the project would extend the life of the bridge and improve safety and ride quality for motorists.
An epoxy overlay was scheduled for late October, although officials said it would only require single-lane closures.
