WMU Basketball picked to win MAC Tournament in preseason poll.

Western Michigan University Broncos Basketball was picked to win the MAC West and MAC Tournament Championship in a coach and media poll on Thursday.

The picks factored in Head Coach Steve Hawkins return for a 15th season and an eight-game winning streak at the end of last season. The poll also cited 10 returning letter winners and four starters from the 2016-2017 season, with a record of 11-7 in conference games.

WMU received 10 votes followed by Buffalo and Ball State.

Western’s first game of the season will be against Siena Heights at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at University Arena.
