Portage Public Safety officers rescue a man stuck waist deep in the mud. It happened around 3:30 on Saturday near the West Side of Sugar Loaf Lake in a wooded wetland area.
When deputies arrived they were unable to locate the victim due to only having a general location. Portage dispatchers were able to locate the victim’s location from his cell location and they maintained contact with the victim on his cell phone until his battery ran out.
It took three Portage firefighters to pull the man from the mud. He was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital for evaluation. We are working to learn his condition.
