KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The United States, and West Michigan, is honoring one of the most influential civil rights leaders of all time, as Monday marks Martin Luther King Junior Day.

On Monday, Kalamazoo College and Western Michigan University held a march to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Kalamazoo.

Due to the cold temperatures, buses transported participants to the park.

Dr. King is remembered for his work to stop segregation in the U.S., and his unforgettable "I Have A Dream" speech.

On Monday, Kalamazoo and many other communities are honoring Dr. King with a community-wide day of service.
