WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - The next time you're perusing the Ikea showroom or flipping through the Swedish furniture maker's catalog, you'll be able to shop for your pets.

New this month is Lurvig (Swedish for "shaggy"), Ikea's product line designed exclusively for cats and dogs.

Felines can claw a scratching mat ($5.99), explore the inside of a play tunnel ($7.99) and relax in a padded cat house on legs ($54.98).

Pups can catch a flying disc (99 cents), enjoy a walk on an anti-shock leash ($14.99) and snooze on a stylish bed ($49.99).

"Our pets have their own personalities but they have five things in common: they love sleeping, eating, playing and exercising, and being close to us," designer Inma Bermudéz said. "So, these behaviors have been the first thing on our minds when designing these products."

Dr. Barbara Schäfer, a veterinarian who helped develop Lurvig, added, "It’s really important to use an animal’s natural needs and behaviors (like how they sleep, eat or play) as a starting point. Then we can design a product that fits in with our human needs, such as style and form.”
