The 850-foot luge run at Muskegon State Park was designed by Frank Masley, a three-time Olympian luger, to attract new people to the sport.

Lugers typically hit speeds of 30 mph, but the track is designed for beginners.

According to the website, the track does not train Olympians, but is part of a program that develops lugers for the USA Luge, and they currently have two Olympians on the national team who started in Muskegon.

Anyone interested in trying luge can visit the site.

Participants need to buy tickets ahead of time and they do require health insurance and the participant to sign a waiver.
