In a Facebook post, the SPCA of Southwest Michigan said Wednesday that their annual Puppy Love event would be hosted at the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange on Valentine's Day.

Katie Timber, executive director of the SPCA of Southwest Michigan, said 25% of proceeds from the event would support the organization.

"We'll be down there with beers and puppies. It's just a fun night to get out and support the SPCA," Timber said.

The organization's event page said Puppy Love would take place from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., with adoptable dogs visiting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

"The SPCA is a pretty grass roots organization. We have under $650,000 a year budget. We're also one of the largest no kill shelters in the state of Michigan, so all of our money goes towards care and operating the shelter," said Timber. "On average it costs about $120 to take care of an animal. On our cats we essentially lose money, so we really rely on the public to support us."
