CASS COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A sexual assault case involving a former southwest Michigan college professor has been delayed.
57-year-old George Field is accused of forcing a student to have sex with him during counseling.
Court records show the therapy sessions at Field's Cass County private practice turned romantic, and the alleged victim felt afraid to say no.
Field never hired a lawyer, so a judge gave him a public defender Wednesday, during what was supposed to be a preliminary exam.
That exam is now scheduled to happen in two weeks.
