Portage opens applications for last of medical marijuana facility permits

The Portage City Clerk will start taking applications for dispensary permits, transportation permits and safety compliance facilities.

The city will take applications starting Oct. 15 with a deadline of 5 p.m. Dec. 14, 2018. The applications must be submitted in person between 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The applications must include the completed and signed form, all required attachments and the $5,000 permit fee.

The forms and guidelines are available at the Office of the City Clerk at Portage City Hall or online at the Portage City website.

Applicants need to be pre-qualified from the Michigan Medical Marihuana Board to be considered.

The applications will be reviewed after the deadline, Dec. 14.

A 1,000-feet separation requirement is in place from a variety of properties, including any currently operating provisioning center.

Portage held applications for growers and processors from June to July in 2018 and is expected to hold another application window in 2019.
