An Indiana man is facing charges, after Michigan State Police said he had sex with a woman multiple time while she was unconscious.

Bradley David Renner, 29, is facing four charges of criminal sexual conduct, and one count of theft and another count of drug possession. Detectives said he stole prescription pills from the victim.

According to a felony complaint, Renner and the victim were in a casual sexual relationship. The complaint states that the victim was drunk and passed out while the victim had sex with her on separate occasions in March and April 2018.

Detectives said Renner admitted to filmed himself having sex.

The complaint also said Renner stole the prescription drug adderall from the victim, which police said was found in his possession of at the time of the arrest.

A friend of the victim, who asked not to be identified, said that’s not the whole story. She claims the woman was drugged by Renner. The friend said the woman has several medical issues, is prescribed sedatives and was given more than her prescribed dose to knock her out.

“Even when she takes her sedative medication, she still wakes up at night. If someone touches her, she still wakes up. And she didn’t wake up at all throughout the video,” the friend said.

The victim’s friend said Renner and the victim were friends and had a sexual relationship, but Renner and the victim were not dating.

“They had a sexual relationship, but they were also like just friends. He hung out, helped her around her farm because of her health issues. She has a tough time taking care of - she has a lot of farm animals, so he would help her,” she said. “She never considered him to be her boyfriend, I know that.”

The victim’s friend said the victim found out when a neighbor told her about the video. She said Renner showed the video to a girl, who then told her mother. She said that’s when they called police.

“She was devastated, she was a hysterical mess. I would say it took her probably two weeks just to stop being a crying mess,” the friend said.

Renner was arrested, arraigned and posted bail Tuesday. The victim’s friend said she has been living in fear since she found out about the video.

“I know for a while she was afraid to be at her house by herself. She’s had her mom stay with her for a while. She stayed with her dad for a while, she’s got guns, so she’s been keeping guns with her, she was afraid to have her children at her house,” the friend said.

Renner is facing three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with an incapacitated victim, one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with an incapacitated victim, one count of larceny in a building and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Renner is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
