The first lady of Michigan visited Kalamazoo Wednesday morning to raise awareness about breast cancer with an elevator ride.
Sue Snyder rode a pink elevator up to the top of the new Exchange Building construction site. The Ride the Pink Elevator campaign is designed to raise awareness and money for research to fight breast cancer.
Snyder said, “The Pink Elevator, everybody's like why is that pink and then they start asking questions to find out what the whole thing is about and how they can raise money and it expands to other projects because there's always construction going on."
Snyder is a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Metro Elevator designs the pink lifts for construction sites across Michigan. The idea is to have a visible reminder of the need to fight breast cancer.
The money raised from the Ride the Pink Elevator project goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
