Battle Creek Police said a man was shot about 7 p.m. Tuesday at Claude Evans Park, near the intersection of North Washington Avenue and Parkway Drive.

Khari Davis, 22, of Battle Creek, was shot in the head and discovered inside a running vehicle, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

Detectives said a man who drove by appeared to know the victim, then got in the car Davis was lying in and drove to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Reports were made of several people at Claude Evans Park at the time of the shooting.

Battle Creek Police Detective Sgt. Todd Elliot said, “We know people heard saw or something. One person leads to another which leads us to another.”

This is sixth homicide in the Battle Creek area in 2018. Three of those deaths, including Davis, remain unsolved cases.
