Wondering what change might be on the horizon following the protests?

Newschannel 3 hosted a Your Voice, Your Future Town Hall with local leaders to discuss topics involving the protests and police reform Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Joining anchors Erica Mokay and Andy Dominianni are Kalamazoo City Mayor David Anderson, Kalamazoo City Commissioner Eric Cunningham, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller, NAACP President of the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch Wendy Fields, activist Marshall Kilgore, and Director of Kalamazoo Valley's Law Enforcement Training Center Victor Ledbetter.

Topics of discussion include state-level police policy, black history education, police protest protocol, and the outcry to defund the police and allocate money elsewhere.

Newschannel 3 reached out to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety early in the week and they said they would not be sending a representative on their behalf. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety tells us they had a previously scheduled meeting at this time to discuss the events of last week. That meeting is closed to the public.

We hope Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety will be able to join us for a future conversation about the issues facing our community.
