PAW PAW, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Van Buren County jury returned the verdict for a man accused of trying to kill police during an hours long standoff.

The jury convicted Jason Kohlhoff 15 counts, including 6 counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Kohlhoff was charged with attempted murder, but the jury returned a verdict of a lesser charge.

Police said he shot at Michigan State Police troopers who were outside his home in Grand Junction in 2016.

Kohlhoff admitted to exchanging gunfire with troopers, but claims he wasn't trying to kill anyone.

Kohlhoff is set to be sentenced at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20.
