A 67-year-old Bloomingdale man in a horse-drawn buggy was seriously injured after a collision with a van.

Van Buren County Sheriff deputies said a silver 1996 Ford Econoline 150 was headed south on 46th Street south of County Road 388 at about 10:30 a.m. when the 59-year-old Grand Junction man crossed the centerline and hit the horse-drawn buggy.

The horse was killed and the 67-year-old Bloomingdale man was thrown from the buggy. He was taken to Bronson Hospital.

The driver of the van didn’t report any injuries to deputies.

Deputies are still investigating the crash, but said they don’t think either driver was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
