Battle Creek Police are searching for a suspect involved in an attempted abduction on Friday.

Police said a 10-year-old boy was in his backyard in the 100 block of Winter St. when he was approached by a man in a ski mask.

The boy said he was grabbed by the arm, bit the suspect’s hand and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

Police were sent to the area around 7 p.m. and were searching for a suspect dressed in dark clothing and a ski mask.

A neighbor said, “We were driving down the road and we pulled over and asked officers what was going on? They told us to get home, lock the doors, and don't let anybody in. And I go why, and they go, just do it."

Police are currently investigating and are reviewing surveillance video for a better description of the suspect.

The neighbor said, “It's kind of scary, we've already had problems with kids getting abducted in another neighborhood, and now this. So it's kind of scary.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Battle Creek Police (269) 966-3305 or Silent Observer at (269) 964-3888.
