SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSTM) — Pac-Man turned 40 on Friday! The video game debuted in Tokyo, Japan at an arcade on May 22, 1980.

The game originally was called, "Puck-Man." The name was changed because the games American distributor was worried that kids would change the "P" to an "F" on the marquee. Thus, "Pac-Man" was born.

To this day, only a handful of people have completed a perfect game. This is when players finish with no lives lost and the maximum number of points at each level.

The maze video game revolutionized entertainment with a defined main character and the first "power up."
